April 19, 2022Revita is a new competitor in the ever-growing, packed roguelike arena. It was released on Steam’s Early Access in March 2021 and has received decent praise since. The game is now ready and launches in complete form on Nintendo Switch and Steam on April 21. But does the “full” 1.0 version has what it takes to compete with the big boys like Hades and Rogue Legacy — or does it get trampled down?

‘Triangle Strategy’

A tactical role-playing game developed by Square Enix in cooperation with Artdink, and published by Nintendo internationally. What could possibly go wrong? Not a lot!

April 13, 2022 Triangle Strategy is a sequel on two fronts. It is the spiritual successor to the seminal Final Fantasy Tactics which has not seen a mainline game since the 2007-2008 Japanese launch on the handheld DS. It is also the second game to use Square Enix’s patented and decidedly gorgeous HD-2D aesthetic since Octopath Traveler was released in 2018. The game has a lot to live up to. So, is this lengthy strategy RPG worth your time?

Video Game Review: ‘Red Wings: American Aces’

‘Red Wings: American Aces’ has solid mechanics, but overly restrictive design combined with lackluster single and multiplayer modes make the title hard to enjoy.

April 2, 2022 — Developed by Ironbird Creations and published by All In! Games, both situated in Kraków, Poland, Red Wings: American Aces sells itself as a simple, cathartic air combat arcade game on the premise of taking to the skies for nostalgic, action-packed dogfights — that are meant to be enjoyed solo or with friends in both local and online multiplayer matches. Unfortunately, the final product doesn’t quite land with its wheels out.

‘OlliOlli World’

British indie title sequel ‘OlliOlli World’ offers tons of fun-filled, unique skateboarding gameplay combined with an upbeat visual style — a fantastic game hard not to enjoy.

February 27, 2022 — It’s difficult not to be enamored upon first seeing OlliOlli World, the latest in the critically acclaimed skateboarding series by the BAFTA and multi-award-winning studio Roll7. Video Game Review:
‘Flynn: Son of Crimson’

‘Flynn: Son of Crimson’ is a handcrafted 2D action platformer that takes players on a journey of discovery and conflict as they learn to master the art of Crimson Energy.

December 9, 2021 — Funded on Kickstarter back in 2017, Flynn: Son of Crimson is a relatively ambitious undertaking. It portrays its characters and world with a remarkably fluid pixel-art style, and its gameplay combines the combat and overall progression of an action RPG with the level design and movement of a 2D platformer. While a few elements stumble in their execution, Flynn is nonetheless a beautiful, excellently crafted adventure that is well worth a playthrough or two.

Video Game Review:
‘Metroid Dread’

Co-developed with Spain’s MercurySteam, Nintendo has finally added ‘Metroid Dread’ to the Switch library and it is excellent; irristeble side-scrolling love — all the way.

October 12, 2021 — Being the first 2D Metroid installment in nearly two decades, Metroid Dread has a seemingly impossible legacy to live up to. The Metroid series consists of some of the most highly regarded games of all time, so while the hype surrounding Metroid Dread is immense, some may understandably feel skeptical that it would serve as a worthy follow-up to what came before.
