TikTok Opens Doors for Performers Again

January 4, 2021 — TikTok has released a one-hour musical on their platform, and while it is unprecedented for the app, the story does not end there. The limited event was created to support The Actors Fund, and raised one million dollars on its first night. Which is something I would say is a success for the company. If you had a chance to catch the musical then you know it was a fun experience unlike anything we have ever seen. However, the story behind the idea is just as interesting.

Our Top 10 Synthwave Songs from 2020 as We Look Forward to 2021

January 1, 2021 — 2020 was a rough year for many people, but it also came with a lot to be grateful for. While did not get to go to as many concerts as we wanted, we did have more time to discover new music. On top of finding new ways to enjoy live shows. Some people found themselves with more time to start a hobby, or create that YouTube channel they always wanted to make. Others saw a great year for retrowave music in both videogames and television; some of the artists we work with also put out fantastic music this year. Today seems like a great day to reflect on some of our favorite retrowave tracks that came out this year, and to look forward to the great year 2021 will be.

10 Best Christmas Movie Soundtracks

December 24, 2020 — There are so many Christmas songs out there, but there are only a handful of classics that everybody knows. This makes creating a Christmas film soundtrack somewhat of a challenge, because if you put the same old songs in every movie, none of them will be unique. These issues are usually fixed by having artists record a cover of the original song with their own twist. Sometimes, artists will end up recording an entirely new song for a film. Admittedly, there are a lot of bland Christmas movie soundtracks out there. That said, these ten scores set the prime example of what a good Christmas soundtrack can be.

OST Face-Off: ‘Dune’ (1984) Vs. ‘Dune’ (2021)

December 18, 2020 Dune is a novel by Frank Herbert, and is frequently cited as the best-selling science fiction book of all time. The book was originally adapted into a movie in 1984, which was met with mixed reviews. Some people loved it; some thought it strayed too far from the source material, and others were so burned out by the cultural boom in science fiction — brought on by the Star Wars saga — that they did not even bother watching it. One aspect of the original film that is not discussed enough is its epic score, and how it came from one of the most unlikely sources. With a reboot on the way that promises an even more sensational soundtrack, it seems like a good time to compare what was, and what will be.
