December 19, 2021 — The sounds of everyone’s favorite blue are soon at your disposal, thanks to Capcom and Laced Records. According to a recent announcement from Laced, the duo has been tinkering away at bringing a selection of Mega Man’s best soundtracks to LP format. Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 are being re-released on a deluxe double LP, while the Super Nintendo spin-off, Mega Man X, will have its own single LP release.
Slated for an August 2022 release, each heavyweight LP will feature a collection of remastered tracks pulled right from the classic series. The Mega Man 2 + Mega Man 3 LP features 49 memorable tracks, sure to transport players back to the heyday of retro gaming. Gaming musical legends Takashi Tateishi (Mega Man 2), Yasuaki Fujita (Mega Man 3), and Harumi Fujita (Mega Man 3) are immortalized on the two-LP collection, which comes with a printed inner sleeve, widespined outer sleeve, and all-new artwork from known Mega Man superfan and DeviantArt artist ultimatemaverickxx.
Mega Man 2 + Mega Man 3 are also available in a Limited edition set, available exclusively on the Laced store. The collectible set comes with ‘Mega Buster Blue” discs compared to the standard edition’s expected black discs.
Releasing alongside this pair of LPs is the rock-filled soundtrack of Mega Man X. Alpha Lyla, Capcom’s house band at the time of the game’s release in 1990, expertly translates the glorious arrangement of Setsuo Yamamoto. Mega Man X features 34 tracks, remastered and pressed onto a heavyweight LP. The LP is protected by an inner sleeve and spined outer sleeve. Similar to the deluxe double collection, Mega Man X also features an ‘X-Blaster Blue’ backing and artwork created by ultimatemaverickxx.
The Mega Man 2 + Mega Man 3 Double LP is retailing for $35, and the Mega Man X single will come in at $28. Laced is currently taking pre-orders on both on the official store
Laced is no stranger to bringing classic video game soundtracks back from obscurity. Other LPs available for pre-order include Tekken 7, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Serious Sam 4. Currently available LPs include the Doom 5th Anniversary box set, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Street Fighter Alpha: Warrior’s Dreams, and Borderlands 2.
Since vinyl isn’t the most popular means of listening to music, Laced also offers CDs and digital downloads for some of its collections.
